Christmas in July

Hey everyone! Just thought I would finally launch myself into the blogosphere and get this post up & running.

This past week was Christmas in July, and as you may know my birthday. Not only was I lucky enough to celebrate another year in Boston... I was able to celebrate with family. Bob & I were paid a visit by Rick & Mary, Kathryn and her friend Drew. We had a great time... remarkably we spent alot of time in our aparment entertaining. Which if you've been here you know our apartment is super-small...700 sq. ft. I guess absence makes the heart grow fonder...and helps you over look small quarters. ;)

On the big day, we did some shopping on Newbury Street, where I indulged in a fabulous dress from Betsey Johnson. My first of many I'm sure... It's covered in pinup sailor girls, and is begging for a "hey sailor" cat call. After shopping, we had dinner at a restaurant called Sibling Rivalry. The restaurant was created by 2 brothers, Chefs David & Bob. A list of ingredients is given and each brother creates appetizers & entrees from the ingredients, and patrons can pick from Chef David's creations or Chef Bob's. I had the local Nantucket Sea Bass, which was fantastic. The other favorite at the table was pork done 2 ways, asian & BBQ.

After dinner we took a stroll through Boston Common & the Public Garden to Charles Street and Beacon Hill. We had champagne at the Liberty Hotel, which used to be the Charles Street Jail, and is one of my favorite hotels in the city. We sat on comfy couches in the lobby and drank Veuve Clicqot, this is the place to be in Boston right now - you can't even get into the night club (aptly named Alibi) or restaurant (Clink) - so sitting in the lobby is the next best thing. You have to see this place, it's incredible.

The rest of the weekend included alot of walking, eating and sweating - it was a balmy 85 most of the time. We spent alot of time in The North End, along the Freedom Trail, we walked along the harbor and had drinks at the Black Rose, an Irish Pub. We spent an afternoon at Fenway, watching the Red Sox & Yankees and spent the evening playing with Wii Fit. All-in-all, it was a great weekend.

This coming weekend, Bob's parents will be here... we're trying to think of some good indoor activities - it's supposed to rain. I'll let you all know how it goes.
